First Road Trip
We went to see about purchasing the van not very far from here. It almost seemed like fate. We had been looking for a while. A few months, at least. We never found anything that interests us. We came close to purchase once. An imported Toyota. The steering wheel was on the opposite side for North America. All parts had to be imported from overseas. We decided that with our inexperience in this lifestyle, we better not. But what a funky little van. But then we found ours. The ad got posted, and within three hours, we had made arrangments to see it. When we arrived, a lovely older couple was waiting to greet us. The gentleman was very excited to go out on the test drive with my hubby. I waited behind with his wife. It started right up, and away they went. I knew before they left that this was the one we were waiting for. We did all the deal-making, and suddenly we were actually going to do this. But he had a couple of things to do first and would drive it over to our house the next day. Ok, no problem, but I still had not driven in it.
Since we are sorting, purging, packing and moving, we don't really have a lot of time. But we really wanted to go somewhere and play with our new toy. We were able to go over to our friend's house. Yay, I get to go for a drive. I will say that it is going to take some getting used to. It is much wider than anything that I have ever driven. Hubby drove it over. It drives great. Definitely going to need to upgrade the sound system in there. Music and playlists are a huge piece of our road tours. I couldn't imagine one without the other.
The night in the camper was even better than I had expected. It was comfortable, even with just an air mattress. It poured rain sometime in the wee morning hours. There were no leaks. I enjoy sleeping outside. Something about it recenters and calms the spirit.
We had a BBQ, drinks and a bonfire. It was a fantastic night with an amazing company. Thank you very much for having us over. You guys are the best. And S, thank you for being you, girl. We are so glad that you were apart of our first trip with the new home. It really means a lot to us.
